Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, protect and share personal information — and the rights you have under Rwandan data-protection law.

Last updated: 8 July 2026

Please note. This document is provided for general information and transparency. It is a working template prepared for EriKidan Ltd. and should be reviewed and finalised by a qualified Rwandan legal professional before being relied upon. It does not constitute legal advice.

EriKidan Ltd. ("EriKidan", "we", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we protect it, and the rights you have. It is designed to align with Law N° 058/2021 of 13/10/2021 relating to the protection of personal data and privacy in Rwanda, and with good international practice.

Who we are

EriKidan Ltd. is a private company (in formation/registration) based in Kigali, Rwanda, serving diaspora investors, partners and clients. For any privacy question, contact info@erikidan.com.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Enquiry & interest details — your name, email, WhatsApp/phone number, country of residence, preferred language, diaspora community, area of interest and any message you send us.
  • Member & investor onboarding details — where you proceed as a member, partner or investor, we may need identity information, beneficial-ownership information and source-of-funds information as required by Rwandan company law and anti-money-laundering / beneficial-ownership rules.
  • Documents — identity documents (e.g. ID or passport), KYC and source-of-funds evidence. These are never collected through public web forms; they are requested only through a secure, private process when required.
  • Technical data — basic website/analytics data (such as pages visited) to keep the site secure and improve it.

Why we use your information (purpose)

We use personal information to: respond to and facilitate your enquiry or request; assess and onboard members, partners and investors; carry out due diligence and identity/source-of-funds verification; meet legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations (including beneficial-ownership and anti-money-laundering requirements); administer participation and communicate with you; and protect our lawful interests and the interests of our members.

Legal basis

We process personal data on the basis of your consent, the performance of steps toward or under an agreement with you, our compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating a well-governed company — consistent with Law N° 058/2021.

Consent, step by step

Where we collect sensitive or identity information, we ask for your consent at each relevant step and explain why the information is needed. You may decline, though this may limit our ability to process your request or admit you as a member.

Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only where necessary with: our professional advisors (legal, tax, accounting, valuation); regulators and authorities where required by law (for example the Rwanda Development Board or relevant authorities); and trusted service providers who help us operate securely, under confidentiality obligations.

International transfers

Because our members and partners are spread across countries, some information may be processed outside Rwanda. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected to a comparable standard.

Storage, security & retention

We use company accounts, controlled access and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. Sensitive documents are kept in restricted, members-only storage — never on public pages. We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law, then securely delete or anonymise it.

Member documents: storage, access & retention

When you become a member or investor, you upload identity and compliance documents — such as your passport or ID, proof of address, proof of funds transfer and source-of-funds evidence — through your secure member area after signing in. These documents form part of EriKidan Ltd.'s official records, as required for company, beneficial-ownership and anti-money-laundering compliance under Rwandan law.

  • Where they are stored — inside your access-controlled member account. Files are never published, indexed or shown on any public page.
  • Who can access them — only authorised EriKidan Ltd. administrators, and you (your own documents). A secured backup copy may be kept for record-keeping.
  • How long we keep them — for the duration of your membership plus the statutory record-keeping period required by Rwandan company and AML law, after which they are securely deleted or anonymised.
  • Your choices — you may request access, correction or deletion at info@erikidan.com, subject to the legal retention requirements above.

By uploading documents you consent to this storage and processing. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards; however, no online storage is ever completely without risk.

Your rights

Subject to Rwandan law, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of, or objection to certain processing, and withdrawal of consent. To exercise these rights, contact info@erikidan.com.

Cookies

Our site may use essential and basic analytics cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Changes

We may update this policy as our company and the law evolve. The "last updated" date above shows the current version.
